Sounds of banging hammers and whirring power tools will ring in the month of March at the Promenade Shopping Centre.

Owned and operated by Cadillac Fairview Corporation, the Thornhill mall is set for a $46-million facelift, says Promenade General Manager Andy Traynor.

“We just received board approval on Dec. 13 for a major revitalization,” he said last week. “We’re going under construction as of March 1.”

Cadillac Fairview’s decision to renovate the Promenade follows a record year for the mall in sales productivity, Traynor said.

“We expect even bigger and better things for the Promenade,” he continued, adding 2008 is set to be a “big transitional year”.

“We’ll have major construction going on within the mall. We look forward to that.”
