Vaughan Tories to choose candidate
Vaughan’s Conservatives are set to pick the candidate that will carry their party’s colours and hopes of victory into the next federal election.
Card-carrying Conservatives are to meet Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in the cafetorium of Woodbridge’s Vellore Village Community Centre at 1 Villa Royale Ave.
Kleinburg resident Richard Lorello is seeking the riding association’s nomination over Richard Majkot, a resident of Orangeville.
Lorello ran for a regional councillor spot in the 2006 municipal election, coming in sixth in a field of nine.
Majkot, Vaughan’s last federal Conservative candidate, came second to Liberal MP Maurizio Bevilacqua in the 2006 general election, falling 20,000 votes short.
