Inspection shuts down restaurants

York Regional Health Services inspectors closed three Vaughan eateries last week for infractions under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

All located in the rest area on the side of Hwy. 400 northbound between Kirby and King-Vaughan Rds., the three establishments — Tim Hortons, Mr. Sub and Wendy’s — were shut on Jan. 23 for a lack of water.

The restaurants reopened later that day.

Last year, more than 4,000 inspections were carried out resulting in 50 provincial offences notices being handed out, and 11 establishments ordered closed.
