Mayor golf tourney nets $200,000
Thwack. “Fore!” Ka-ching.
More than 230 golfers hit the links at Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg recently for the Mayor Linda D. Jackson Annual Charity Golf Classic, teeing off to raise over $200,000 for the Vaughan Health Care Foundation.
“Proceeds from this tournament will bring us that much closer to building a hospital in Vaughan and improving accessibility for our residents to much-needed healthcare services in our community,” Jackson said in a statement.
The July 16 tournament featured hole-in-one, longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, car prizes, and silent and live auctions.
“Over the last six years, the city has raised almost three-quarters of a million dollars to support the Vaughan Health Care Foundation and Vaughan charities,” said Councillor Peter Meffe, chair of the golf classic’s organizing committee.
