Same man wanted for two bus stop gropings

WOODBRIDGE – Police are looking to identify a man they believe grabbed two women inappropriately while they waited at bus stops.

On July 27 at about 11:30 p.m., a man struck up a conversation with a woman waiting for a bus at Weston Rd. and Hwy. 7. The woman turned away from the man, who then grabbed her from behind, police say.

The woman yelled at the suspect. He took off and was last seen running east on Hwy. 7 into an area of thick bushes, police say.

A similar incident occurred two months earlier. On May 23 at about 5:30 p.m., a woman waiting for a bus at Pine Valley Dr. and Hwy. 7 was grabbed inappropriately from behind, police say. The suspect fled the area, walking south on Pine Valley Dr.

Neither victim was injured.

Police believe the same man is responsible for both assaults.

The suspect is described as male, between 22 and 33 years old, light-brown skin, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, with a chubby build and weighing 170–180 pounds. He had short black hair and was wearing red faded shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a silver analogue watch with a dark-coloured face.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to call Detective Dan Fowler in the sexual assault unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7071 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
