Wicked weather tears through Vaughan, state of emergency declared
Residents in Maple and Woodbridge are cleaning up after a severe storm last night that led the city to declare a state of emergency.
A number of apparent tornadoes were reported in the Martin Grove Rd. and Hwy. 7 and Jane St. and Major Mackenzie Dr. areas of Vaughan.
Environment Canada has yet to confirm the tornado reports, says emergency preparedness meteorologist Peter Kibell.
“We haven’t confirmed, but there’s no question about it,” he said this morning. “There’s virtually no doubt. I mean, the video evidence is unmistakable.”
So far, no serious injuries have been reported as a result of the storm but hundreds of homes have been affected.
