Police have arrested a trio of alleged bandits who they say is responsible for 288 incidents across York Region.

Early on Oct. 14, police from 4 District were dispatched to an address in Maple in response to multiple break and enters of vehicles and garages.

During the investigation, they spotted a suspect vehicle, a black SUV. A short chase ensued when the driver of the SUV refused to stop, police say. Three people were arrested following the pursuit.

Donald Groves, 22, of Main St. in Toronto, will face about 40 charges in connection to eight break and enters that occurred in September and October in York and Durham regions.

Candice Black, 19, of Eastdale Ave. in Toronto, will face 40 charges in connection with eight break and enters in York and Durham regions during September and October.

A 16-year-old male, also of Toronto, will face 40 charges in connection with eight different break and enters in Durham Region in September and October.

Most of the reported break-ins occurred during the early morning hours and involved vehicles parked in driveways, police say. Several garages were entered using remote garage door openers found inside the vehicles.
