Chinese trade delegation welcomed
The city’s trade mission to China in March may be bearing fruit.
Last month, a 30-member business delegation from Zhejiang Province, China visited the city. The delegation represented interests from a variety of economic sectors.
“There’s huge economic development potential coming out of China for our local businesses,” Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco said in a statement. “It is so important that we get their interest in newly developing areas.”
This is not the first visit by interested business people from China since the trade mission, Mayor Linda Jackson said, “but by far, this is the largest business delegation that the city has welcomed.”
On hand to welcome the delegation were Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Michael Chan, Chinese Vice-Consul Yong Wang, and representatives from the Vaughan Chinese Business Association, the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Chinese Canadians in York Region.
