THORNHILL – York Regional Health Services inspectors charged two Vaughan food vendors for infractions under the Health Protection and Promotion Act last week.

On July 13, Stonefire Bar and Grill at 8700 Bathurst St. in Thornhill was cited for operating food premise in a manner adversely affecting sanitary condition.

The next day, T&T Supermarket at the Promenade Shopping Centre in Thornhill was charged with offering for sale hazardous foods at internal temperatures between 5 C and 60 C.

The number of inspections at an establishment depends on its level of risk: Inspectors make three unannounced visits a year to high-risk vendors, two to medium-risk stores and restaurants, and one to low-risk eateries.

When an inspector finds an infraction, they can hand out tickets and summonses, and can issue orders under the health protection act.
