Ash trees in the Weston Rd. and Hwy. 7 area of Vaughan are under attack by an invasive threat. The emerald ash borer has been found in the area, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced Aug. 28.

One male has been arrested and five other people are being sought after three separate muggings in Vaughan last week. On July 30 at about 11:30 p.m., a male was walking home from a bus stop near the Promenade mall when three people approached him, according to York police Constable Gary Phillips. One kept a lookout while the others went through his pockets. The victim wasn’t injured but his cellphone, wallet and iPod were stolen, police say.
