Watch your vehicle, police warn after warm-up thefts

A pair of Wednesday morning warm-up thefts in Vaughan has police reminding drivers to be careful with their cars. On Nov. 4 at about 6:30 a.m., a Toyota Camry was stolen from a Martin Grove Road driveway, police say. The car was left running with the doors unlocked. It was left unattended for less than three minutes.

Cops hunt for leads

Police are asking the public for help as they investigate a serious assault that occurred in Woodbridge on Aug. 9. Two friends were walking in the Weston Rd. and Ashberry Blvd. area around 7:10 p.m. when a car pulled up beside them. Four males got out of the car and physically assaulted one of the individuals with weapons, including a piece of pipe, police say.

Same man wanted for two bus stop gropings

Police are looking to identify a man they believe grabbed two women inappropriately while they waited at bus stops. On July 27 at about 11:30 p.m., a man struck up a conversation with a woman waiting for a bus at Weston Rd. and Hwy. 7. The woman turned away from the man, who then grabbed her from behind, police say.

Gun seized after traffic stop

A traffic stop in Thornhill resulted in the thwarting of a potential home invasion in Midland, Ont. and the arrests of four people, York police say. At about 12:30 a.m. on June 8, officers from 2 and 4 Districts stopped a vehicle in the Bathurst St. and Steeles Ave. West area. Inside were two men.

Cops seek flooring thieves

Police are on the lookout for two suspects after hardwood flooring was stolen during a holdup in Vaughan last week. At about 6 p.m. on April 30, two men, one armed with a handgun, entered ACXA Flooring at 7777 Keele St. and confronted the clerk, police say.

19 arrested for thefts

Several people arrested in a recent GTA-wide distraction theft investigation face potential deportation once court proceedings wrap up. Police from York, Toronto, Durham and Orangeville recovered over $100,000 in stolen property, arrested 19 people and laid dozens of charges in connection with more than 100 distraction thefts that plagued Vaughan and Richmond Hill last year.

Quick arrests made after Woodbridge home invaded

Uniformed and Canine Unit officers made two quick arrests in connection with an armed home invasion in Woodbridge Tuesday afternoon. At about 12:10 p.m. on Jan. 13, two suspects in disguises forced their way into a home on Davos Rd., police say. One was armed with a handgun, the other with a crowbar.
