Crime Beat: One arrested, five sought in muggings
One male has been arrested and five other people are being sought after three separate muggings in Vaughan last week. On July 30 at about 11:30 p.m., a male was walking home from a bus stop near the Promenade mall when three people approached him, according to York police Constable Gary Phillips. One kept a lookout while the others went through his pockets. The victim wasn’t injured but his cellphone, wallet and iPod were stolen, police say.

Half-million suit launched over murders in Mexico
The family of murdered Woodbridge couple Dominic and Nancy Ianiero filed a $500,000 lawsuit against Sunquest Vacations earlier this month. The lawsuit alleges that Sunquest, the tour operator who sold the Ianieros their vacation package, failed to warn travellers to Mexico of the elevated risk of violent crime.
The suit also alleges Sunquest didn’t do enough to ensure adequate security at the Barcelo Maya Caribe Resort in Cancun.
