Rep ticked about leaks

Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio is fuming at the “smear campaign” directed at her and delivered in nondescript brown envelopes. Vaughan Today received a second anonymous package this week on the heels of one sent to media outlets last month. Both contained documents alleging wrongdoing in the awarding and payment of contracts to companies connected to Steve Frustaglio, the regional councillor’s son.

Cheques spur investigation

The latest city hall skirmish has sparked an investigation into the source of an apparent leak. Vaughan Today and other media outlets recently received an anonymous package containing photocopied city cheques totalling $35,478.20 signed by Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio to SLF General Contracting and Vitriflex Surfaces Inc.

New youth representative ready for role

Barely two weeks on the job, Vaughan’s new Youth City Councillor is already busy representing her constituency while she breaks new ground. Sabrina Bruno was sworn in Sept. 8, the fourth high schooler — and the first female — to take the post as the voice of Vaughan’s youth.

Councillors ‘appalled’ by Jackson

Embattled Mayor Linda Jackson’s latest salvo in the controversy over her campaign finances has councillors seeing red and talking tough. In a move that preempts charges being laid against her by city-retained prosecutor Timothy Wilkin, Jackson notified the city late last Friday afternoon she intends to fight council’s actions in court.

Jackson’s future in jeopardy

Mayor Linda Jackson says she was unaware of the apparent mismanagement of her 2006 campaign finances that has now placed her job in jeopardy. But if she didn’t know what was going on with her election dollars, her husband and campaign manager Mario Campese did, according to auditors Ken Froese and Glen R. Davison, who uncovered several apparent contraventions of the Municipal Elections Act.
